 The Mariposa Chronicle

Welcome to Our Video Websites

Mariposa Chronicle & Social Media

With social media there is and exchange potential.

The social media connection, in our Network, provides unique opportunity to develop two-way contact with our users. This feature also feeds updates, with respect to events, new featured content, and other News that our audience has demonstrated an interest in, such as weather, road conditions, etc.) Our Social Media Broadcast network is primarily based on our Mariposa Chronicle Facebook page, but we have links to other social media platforms as well. My personal Facebook page is the main connecting link to all of the social media content we’ve produced.

Do YOU have a Story to Share?

We have a rich and diverse story to tell here in Mariposa-Yosemite Gold Country. Social Media has provided a unique opportunity to share but it has its limitations. Some of these stories have an urgency like a health safety notification. Some stories are on going and require a regular update. Here is where we need YOUR help!

Being a Community Correspondent with the Mariposa Chronicle helps us be an important News source for our area but also provides you with the opportunity to be part of a community of people who share a deep interest in helping our region evolve and thrive during some challenging times.

How Do I Become a Community Correspondent?

First off, contact me, Robert Borchard, at robborch@sti.net or call me or message me at (209) 617-8366 (my Cell). You may only wish to alert me as to a Story that you think needs to be broadcast over our Network. If you are interested in a more formal role in our Network, lets talk. A more formal opportunity exists with a Mariposa Chronicle Press Credential and direct access into our online system. Although our focus we focus on multimedia/video reporting, we do have need for written stories. Of course, this is NOT traditional newspaper report writing where you are bound to the “column-inch” style of writing, if fact writing for Internet media requires a briefer style with audio and visual attachments.

Periodically we will be conducting workshops on being a Community Correspondent with the Mariposa Chronicle and Yosemite Gold Country Network. Call, Text or send me an Email so I can let you know when our next workshop is scheduled.

Cellphone Journalism

Phone hardware, operating systems, and apps are becoming more sophisticated and better at supporting journalists’ productivity and creativity. This is particularly true when it comes to mobile journalism, or “MoJo”: where reporters produce video stories on their mobile phones.

To learn some of the best ways to make engaging digital news videos on a phone, for anyone who’s just getting started, we’ve prepared and hand-out and will be conducting workshops at our 2MC Studio on “Hand Held: How to Make Great Digital News Video Stories on Your Mobile Phone,” based on information from the Facebook Journalism Project.
